When Taoyuan City was upgraded to a municipality on December 25, 2014, the Taoyuan City Government released the Governmental Order No. 10402724261 on October 20, 2015, which announced the implementation of organizational rules, under which the Office of Traffic Adjudication, Taoyuan was established. The implementation was executed according to the duty authorization regulations under Article 8-3 of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act. The office was established on January 1, 2016, and took over the duties of traffic violation adjudications within Taoyuan City, which were previously handled by the Hsinchu Motor Vehicles Office, Directorate General of Highway, MOTC. Four new official sections were established; these include the Citation Control Section, Enforcement Section, Appeals Section and Collection Section.
