Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan led the city government team on a sister city exchange visit to Japan. On August 6, they headed to Choshi, Chiba to observe the development of offshore wind power. Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) established an offshore wind power facility for research in coastal waters in Choshi in 2009, and has acquired significant results. TEPC also expects renewable energy to become the main force of future power generation. Mayor Cheng stated that Tokyo Electric Power Company has abundant experience with regard testing offshore wind power generation. He focused on the problems and investigated each one by one. Taiwan also has excellent conditions for wind power, he expressed the hope that multi-aspect exchange can be carried out between Taiwan and Japan in the future to promote the vigorous development of the wind power industry in Asia.
