The City Government team visited Taiwan AI Labs and will make good use of technology for multi-faceted cooperation, promoting smart city

Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan led a team to visit Taiwan AI Labs in the afternoon of February 26th and communicated with the founder, Ethan Tu, and his team. Mayor Cheng said that Taiwan's success in epidemic prevention could be attributed to many factors, including close cooperation between government authorities and the private sector. By making good use of AI, big data, and other technological tools, epidemic prevention was greatly facilitated. In the future, he also hopes to apply technologies to the aspects of smart medical care, smart epidemic prevention, smart teaching, smart transportation, etc., to improve the quality of urban governance and promote the smart city of Taoyuan.

Mayor Cheng said that the epidemic has changed the way the world operates. Maintaining social distancing and the zero-contact economy created a new aspect of life. The public acceptance of online teaching has also increased. Through the cloud teaching platform, one-to-many teaching is possible for teachers. Also, online teaching becomes a new tool to bridge the gap between urban and rural teaching resources. Mayor Cheng hopes that AI Labs will keep developing more AI systems in the future to help the city improve the aspects of smart medical care, smart epidemic prevention, smart teaching, and smart transportation, and so on.

Mayor Cheng pointed out that Taiwan has a good health insurance system, medical system, and Internet environment. Coupled with the good civic literacy and the willingness of private sectors to comply with government policies, various factors have contributed to Taiwan's excellent epidemic prevention. During the epidemic, many countries are actively developing more civilized and friendly methods to achieve epidemic prevention goals, such as utilizing AI, big data, and other technological tools to help grasp the whereabouts of confirmed cases and related contacts and list risky areas, etc. With its effect of reducing the spread of the epidemic, the aid of technology has also allowed Taiwan to perform well in epidemic prevention.
