Guishan Township

Guishan Township

Guishan Township: Center of Industry and Medicine in Northern Taiwan

Guishan was originally a settlement of the Ketagalan people of the Pepo and was originally named Guilunshe. It is
surrounded by mountain chains and dense luxuriant forests, and it was the hunting grounds for the Pepo. After it
began to be developed in the Ming and Qing dynasties, the indigenous people were gradually assimilated with Chinese.
They grew crops together and contributed to the local community. In 1950 it was named Guishan Township because
the hill in front of the
Guanyin Temple
on the Taishan Rock looks like a tortoise.

Guishan is located in the northeast of the county and occupies an area of 72.02 km2. Most of the area in the township
consists of hills and plateaus. The upper reaches of the
Nankan River run across the center of the township for a
distance of 9.5km, bringing green vegetation to Guishan where many factories are located.

There are many factories and workers in the township. This is a typical feature of Guishan,
and Guishan Industrial Park is particularly well known. It is a combination of the Linknow
Industrial Parks III, IV and V. The non-industrial part of the town has a population of
139,817. About 45% of population are workers, so Guishan is a township for workers.

Guishan is being driven by the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Area and Taoyuan Metropolitan Area to become the most
important industrial city in northern Taiwan and with its firm industrial foundation, the hub connecting these two
   metropolitan areas.

god In addition to industrial development, the massive slope area development in the township has
provided a perfect relaxation and living environment for immigrants to the township. These include
large residential areas built on the mountainside, the Chang Gung Golf Course, Dongfang Golf
Course, tourism tea gardens and leisure farms. The Guanyin Temple in Shoushan Rock is even a
 Class 3 historical relic.

In addition, there are six universities and colleges in the township, including Central Police
University, National College of Physical Education and Sports, Chang Gung Institute of Nursing,
Guishan Campus of Ming Chuan University and Longhua College of Industry and Commerce,
bringing a cultural and educational atmosphere to the township in addition to industry.
