Bade City

Bade City: The Second Largest City in Northern Taoyuan

Bade City was originally named Bakuaicuo and was first developed by people from Fujian at the beginning of the Qianlong Regime during the Qing Dynasty. It was named Bakuaicuo because there were eight households settling there, and Bakuaicuo means eight houses. It was renamed as Bade Township in 1946 and became Bade City in 1995. It is now the fourth-largest county municipality in Taoyuan. It has a population of 178,998 people and an area of 33.71 km2, making Bade City the smallest administrative district in Taoyuan County .

Although 48% of the city is farmland, less than 10% of the local residents practice agriculture. Most of the local residents
are engaged in business and manufacturing. Since Bade City is adjacent to Taoyuan City, its industrial and business
development started quite early. Thanks to National Highway No. 3, Taoyuan Inner Beltway, and the Danan Exit,
  Bade's future success is promising.

Most citizens here are of Fujian origin; that makes the veteran village culture and veteran homes are other distinctive features of the city. Dabei Pond in front of Yongan Temple in Da'an Li has gorgeous scenery all year round and is a habitat for many different bird species. This makes Bade City an ideal spot for bird watching.
