Chung Cheng Aviation Museum

          Occupying 8700 pings, the newly designed Chung Cheng Aviation Museum is located in front of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in Taoyuan County. Under commission by the Civil Aeronautics Administration of the Communications Ministry, the museum was designed and built by the Boeing Company of the U.S. It has attracted countless visitors from all parts of Taiwan since it was opened on 31 October, 1981. This suggests that our fellow countrymen are very interested in exhibitions combining technology with art. The Chung Cheng Aviation Museum is the first specialist aeronautic museum in Taiwan and the best one in Asia.
 
         Air transportation is one of the fastest-growing modern technological achievements. Out of sheer curiosity and desire, from fantasizing about flying to landing on the moon, it took only a century for man to make this miracle come true. Though there are many touching stories worth telling, in the past in Taiwan, there was no full introduction to the past and present of aeronautical development. The CAA created the educational, inspiring and tourism-friendly Chung Cheng Aviation Museum to enrich people’s knowledge, to promote the aeronautics industry in Taiwan, and to preserve the history of aeronautics. The project is both meaningful and significant. As part of Phase I of the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Project, the structure of the museum was completed in the end of 1978..

Features of the Exhibition
        The past, present and future of aeronautics are all introduced through wall paintings, slides, videotapes, perspective settings, models, real objects, texts and books. The five galleries of the museum are: Civil Aviation Gallery, Craft Gallery, Local Gallery, Historical Relics Gallery and Space Gallery.
