CKS Memorial Hall

CKS Memorial Hall

CKSCKS Memorial Hall was built by the Japanese in 1909 and is located in CKS Park in Dasi. There was originally a shrine, a public hall at the end of the park and a sumo ground, which became the Caoren Pavilion, the villa of late President Chiang Kai-shek and a lotus pond respectively after the restoration of Taiwan. The villa has now become the CKS Memorial Hall.

The baroque street houses and monumental arches, conical or gourd-shaped capitals and ornamentation with animal and floral relief, and scenes of old Dasi streets are the best evidence of Dasi’s glorious past. The original form of the main building in CKS Memorial Hall is still preserved! This was Chiang Kai-shek’s villa in the early years, but now displays historical accounts of him for people to visit.

The CKS Park is situated in the west of Dasi. The towering ancient trees there provide perfect shade, and the natural landscape of Dasi is seen everywhere in this historical park.

CKSThe hill in the south of the park is called the Lotus Seat Hill because it looks like a lotus floating above the water. The Guanyin Temple on the hill that was built during the Jiaqing Regime in the Qing Dynasty has been classified as a Level 3 historic relic. Thanks to the excellent view of the temple square, the scene Morning Bell of the Lotus Temple is included as one of the eight wonders of Dasi. Heping Road near CKS Park is the famous wooden container street of Dasi. The delicate traditional carpentry of Quanzhou Masters creates a distinctive culture in Dasi, making the road the cultural center of the town. On both sides of the road there are captivating Baroque buildings. This is a must-visit spot in Dasi. In fact, all of Dasi is covered with gorgeous scenery, towering ancient trees, overflowing greenness and spectacular mountain views. After all, it is an historic spot.
