Location of parks and greens

Jiaobanshan Park in Fuxing Township, Taoyuan County is located 10km from the North Cross-island Highway, on a plateau situated on the slopes of Mt. Chatian. It is 430m above the Shimen Reservoir and the upper reaches of the Dahan River. It is also the origin of the Atayal people. The natural landscape around Mt. Jiaoban is exceptionally gorgeous when the Shimen Reservoir is full. In 2002 Fuxing Township Office launched a project to embellish the park by planting cherry trees, constructing trails and renovating alcoves in the park in order to provide visitors with a more spectacular leisure and relaxation area. Ancient pines, huge trees and aging plum trees are everywhere inside the park. When spring comes, the scent of plums spreads throughout the park and the blossoming flowers are touching.

Jiaobanshan Villa across from the park is the only surviving villa of the late President Chiang Kai-shek. Chinese plants like pines, cypresses, plums and bamboo grow near the villa creating a strong Chinese flavor that makes visitors feel like a scholar wearing a gown with a mandarin jacket. At the end of the villa stands a pavilion with a tablet that reads “Remembrance of Parents at the Plum Pavilion”. From the pavilion one can see the entire plateau at the mouth of the river.

Transportation:
Bus service: From Daxi take the TMTC coach toward Baling and get off at Fuxing.
Driving: Take Tai-4 Highway from Taoyuan to Daxi. Turn to Tai-7 Highway to Fuxing. Drive along the Zhongzheng Road to get there.
